Village View is a 30-unit family community located at the end of Summer Street, within easy walking distance of the center of Freeport. The property has one one-bedroom unit, 9 two-bedroom units and 20 three-bedroom units. All units are rent and income restricted for families at or below 60% of Area Median Income, with 5 units having rents affordable to households at or below 30% of Median Income. A Resident Services Coordinator organizes activities, including art classes for children, and helps residents find services to meet their needs.
Village View was developed by Freeport Housing Trust in 1996, using the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. In 2008 the property went through major energy conservation upgrades, including new high efficiency gas boilers and additional insulation and air sealing. In 2012 Village View came to the end of its 15-year LIHTC compliance period and is now owned directly by the Housing Trust. Renovations in 2016 included complete replacement of kitchen and bath cabinets as well as accessibility upgrades.
